Watch Weezer Team With Bethany Cosentino for Acoustic 'Go Away'

Weezer's bona fide comeback LP Everything Will Be Alright in the End arrives on October 7th but before the album hits shelves, Rivers Cuomo and gang dropped by KROQ's Soundspace to perform the album highlight "Go Away" with Best Coast's Bethany Cosentino, who also appears on the studio version. As opposed to the Everything Will Be Alright cut, which features Ric Ocasek's sterling production and revved-up guitars, this KROQ rendition turns this sweeping break-up anthem into a poignant, stripped-down acoustic ballad.

As Rolling Stone previously reported, Cosentino was especially excited to collaborate with Weezer, one of her favorite bands. "Weezer is/was so important to me and my youth, so this is huge for me," Cosentino tweeted after a snippet of "Go Away" debuted. "I co-wrote and am featured on a song on the new Weezer album so basically, all my teenage dreams have officially come true." Cosentino first worked with the band when Best Coast was recruited as an opening act for Weezer in 2010, with Cosentino sitting in on a few performances of "Island in the Sun."

Everything Will Be Alright in the End, which is currently streaming on iTunes, marks Weezer's grand return following a four-year hiatus and two hit-and-miss LPs. For the album, Rivers Cuomo and co. reunited with producer Ocasek, who guided them through their landmark self-titled debut (or The Blue Album) and their triumphant pop-punk third disc (The Green Album). "I haven't felt this protective of an album in a long time," Cuomo told Rolling Stone of the personal Everything Will Be Alright in the End. "I put so much of the deepest part of my soul into this that it feels like I'm really on the line, in a way that I haven't been on many albums."
