Jasmine Trias, has taken off with an unbelievable start on a strong, potential long lasting career. At a young age, this Filipino-American island girl born in Mililani, Hawaii to Filipino Immigrants on November 3, 1986, has always had the dream of becoming a famous celebrity. Never did she imagine that one day, all her goals of becoming one would become reality. Singing, performing, in front of her family and friends was what she loved to do, but soon later it would become her destiny and fate in the future. Starting from family functions, church and school choirs, mall performances, whether it was by herself, or with a group, she always had that sweet kind girl-next door persona, inner & outer beauty presence, and possesses a smile that brightens up any room she walks into. She takes pride of her Filipino values and culture as well as local support from Hawaii to make it into the entertainment business. Beyond amazing talents, not only does she have a remarkable singing talent this girl can dance Hip-Hop, Ball Room, Hula, & Tahitian. Not only that, she knows how to play the Hawaiian Ukulele, the piano & guitar.
Her accomplishments started off locally as she won the Brown Bags to Stardom 2001 state singing competition during her freshmen year at Maryknoll Catholic High School in Honolulu, HI and the Road to Fame 2003 youth talent competition. As stepping stones from her youth, when she was 8 she was enrolled at The Performing Artist Academy led by William Daquioag, who was Jasmine’s vocal teacher for years. Although, there was a time she put the dream on hold, only to come back even more determined and mindset as she prepared for her ultimate challenge in becoming a Finalist in the well known worldwide hit Idol Series Singing Competition, American Idol. Further into the competition, she made each cut and landed herself in the Top 3, against the odds of criticism and struggles she overcame. She won the hearts of viewers worldwide and since then loved by millions of people who found her as a well-rounded performer with the total package. She had the talent, the sweet kind personality, and the looks, which would catapult her into the entertainment world.
Known as an American Idol Alum, she headed straight to her parents homeland, the Philippines, where it was her first ever visit in September of 2004 which was coined Jasmania. Where she landed herself with contracts to Four Major endorsers: Smart Communications, McDonalds, Bench Clothing, & Hapee Toothpaste. After her stint in the Philippines, with even her first Major Solo Concert at the Araneta Coliseum in the Philippines on her belt, she headed to the states for more headlining concerts in Los Angeles & San Francisco, CA.
In addition to her immense success in Hawaii & the Philippines, Jasmine in the following year recorded her U.S. debut album under independent label, Clockwork Entertainment, and her Philippine debut album under Universal Records Philippines, which in the U.S. sold more than 20,000 copies and in the Philippines has garnered Platinum status. Her voice style can be described as a sexy, modern, soulful, R&B, Pop vibe for mainstream music today.
Since then, Jasmine has been actively promoting her music through T.V., radio, magazines, and by performing in concerts and other shows worldwide. This year she will begin recording her sophomore album, tentatively dated to be released in 2008.
All of Jasmine’s hard work and ambitions to become the first female Filipino-American solo singer & performer to make it big mainstream, has made her the ideal role-model, and simply an Idol for many.
