Artist Information | | |
Atreyu is a metalcore and post-hardcore band formed in Orange County, California in 1998. It consists of vocalist Alex Varkatzas, guitarists Dan Jacobs and Travis Miguel, bassist Marc McKnight and drummer and vocalist Brandon Saller. The band was originally named "Retribution" but later changed their name to "Atreyu" after the character from The Neverending Story of the same name (suggested by a friend, Scott Lloyd) [4] when they found out that another band from Hemet, California had been using the name.

RockMusicFan :
I love Atreyu, but I doubt I'll get since I have all their cd's. They're supposed to be releasing a new studio album by the end of the year, so I'm looking forward to that.

Necronomicon :
I love Atreyu and I have all their cds too, I think they're a bit too young to be putting out a greatest hits cd. I'm not getting this.

mr. riff :
Half of each album is on this list. They should've put some older stuff from before Suicide Notes on there. If it comes with a DVD or something I'll get it.

I doubt Atreyu will make ANY money on this what-so-ever. They're only issuing it to get out of their contract with Victory.

A Greatest Hits already? I think I might pass on it since I have A Death-Grip and enjoy it still. I plan on getting The Curse sometime around this month. The Greatest Hits cd also comes with a dvd with all their music videos so that's cool.

totally agree..yet, bands make hardly any money from cds as it is, its the record labels that get the most of it, bands have to tour to get paid. and as mfest said, shouldve put out a live album, it would actually sell..but, i think that this album will give newcomers an opportunity to enjoy atreyu without having to buy all the albums. however i feel that suicide notes and butterfly kisses is by far their best

Influences | | |
After releasing their debut EP, Visions around 1998-99 (an exact date is not known) and their second one, Fractures in the Facade of Your Porcelain Beauty in 2001, both on an underground label, Atreyu signed to Victory Records, and released their debut album Suicide Notes and Butterfly Kisses in 2002. It spawned two singles, "Ain't Love Grand" and "Lip Gloss And Black". Touring almost nonstop in support of the record, the group's lineup changed as bassist Marc McKnight replaced Chris Thomson(Cold War (band)) before the recording of their sophomore album.
Atreyu's second album, also recorded while signed to Victory Records was The Curse in 2004, with singles released from the album being "Right Side Of The Bed" and "The Crimson". It was re-released with an accompanying DVD a year later. Their sound slightly changed as this album was much more polished than Suicide Notes and Butterfly Kisses[1] and some emo influences were also introduced which resulted in many reviewers incorrectly referring to the band's style as screamo or emo.[6][7][8]
In 2006 they contributed a track to the soundtrack to Underworld: Evolution and in the same year in March their third album entitled A Death-Grip on Yesterday was released with singles being "Ex's and Oh's", "Shameful", and "The Theft".
In November, 2006, Atreyu parted with Victory Records (their last album on Victory was The Best of...) for major label Hollywood Records. Their next album is due to be released on August 28, 2007, rumored to have been produced by John Feldmann. They have chosen Lead Sails and a Paper Anchor as the title. On June 6, 2007, Atreyu released their new single "Becoming The Bull" in the form of a game on www.atreyurock.com
