Artist Information | | |
David Tumax is a christian artist who writes, records and
produces his own music. His desire is to bring JOY, PEACE
and HOPE to everyone through his music and songs that cross
all borders.
David uses his contemporary music to influence the lives of
youth and reach them for Jesus Christ.
David was born to Obispo and Francisca in Totonicapán,
Guatemala where he grew up in mountain village
named Quiacquix. David grew up in a religous church,
but became a Christian when he was 15. He is the
oldest of 6 children - himself, three brothers and two sisters.
David now lives in the United States with his wife,
Jenny and their daughter, Salem.
David has been involved in music since 1990, when
he and his family started to perform songs that his
dad wrote in their native language of K'iche'. David's
family has, in fact, recorded 7 albums of their
original music, and continue performing their music
in churches and for community activities today.
Neither David or any other member of his family
received, initally, any formal musical training,
but with practice, patients and time, several of
David's family members have developed into very
capable musicians who are very active in their
church's choir/band.
David now plays keyboard, piano, guitar and even
writes and produces his own music using a wide
variety of musical styles, instruments and equipment.
Every day, David writes new songs and music, all of
which have a positive message for all people.
God gave David the idea for the LDC at the end of 2003. The vision for the complex was this- that it would be a place for youth from the local comunity to come and recieve both biblical and secular education and life skill training so that they could become leaders and help direct the community to a better future. This idea has slowly developed into something much bigger. Now the vision is to create various LDC's throughout Guatemala and other countries in Central America, still with the purpose being to develop leaders for the communities but not only in the youth but in the adults as well. The LDC's will be places where anyone can come and play soccer, basketball or just spend some time with their family relaxing, and will have rooms where small conferences or meetings can be held. The LCD's will offer not only recreation but also biblical training to those who enroll in the leadership program. The LDC's will also use videos playing on screens throuhgout the complex, radio type broadcasting over a PA system and personal contact with staff to share Bible teaching with all visitors.
There will also be regularly scheduled games and touraments involving local and professional teams during which a gospel message will be shared. All of the communities will be invited to participate in these events through playing on a team or being a spectator.
All of this is the basic idea of an LDC. Each LDC will be specific to its community. For example, if the community where the LDC is built speacializes in Marimba music, then that LDC would have mariba music to entertain the visitors, or if the community speacializes in sports, then that LDC would feature that specific sport in addition to soccer and basketball. In this way, all the LDC's would be basically the same, but would have the flavor of the surrounding community.
These LDC's are places that have the specific purpose of spreading God's word to the local communities while at the same time providing leadership training, general education and entertainment. You can help reach these communities through buying CD's, giving a monetary donation or by giving of you time and talent.
