Screaming verses, melodic choruses, and virtuosic instrumental playing make up the meat and potatoes of Arc of Descent's music. This poly-rhythmic quintet features neo-classical progressive metal-core, similar to Soilwork and In Flames. With 2 Ibanez 7-string guitars, Arc of Descent is sure to blow any hardcore or progressive metal head away. As Anthony from Burning the Memory wrote, "This shit kicks ass. There's no other way of putting it."
Arc of Descent have been together since February 2005. Since their first show in February 2006, they have been gathering fans rapidly across the world and gaining attention from national promoters and regional venue owners in the New York area. Recently they have performed at the world famous, CBGB's OMFUG, in MEANY Fest (Musicians & Emerging Artists New York) and since that performance, Arc of Descent have been asked to offer Jamie as a panelist on CMJ's Music Marathon. He was one of only four musicians on the panel discussing "From Glam to Death: Metal Subgenre Feasts" including Trevor Phipps of UNEARTH, Freddy from Chthonic, and Jimmy from AnAka.
Jamie Foster on lead vocals screams dark, shredding lyrics about friends turned enemies, soul searching, and a music revolution. Inside is a twisted soul and his voice pierces the listeners ears. Nick Minerva on lead guitar picks his way to a creative new style incorporating Scandinavian influences while he integrates both classic guitar solos and adds a fresh new spin on verses, making them more detailed than the average metal guitarist. Chris D'Auria on second lead guitar adds even more intricate detailing to this dynamic group and also creates elaborate guitar solos of his own, perfectly complimenting the progressive Scandinavian harmonies of Nick. On bass, Adam Woodfin achieves complete communion with his Warwick 5 string. A wide variety of musical experience allows Adam to shift effortlessly through a broad range of techniques and sounds. One thing is certain; Adam Woodfin is permanently bound to his bass. Along with Nick, through various configurations of Arc of Descent, and under different band names, Sergio Atanasio has timing down to an art. Largely driven by double kick drumming, Sergio uses odd time signatures, and intricate patterns to animate Arc of Descent’s music.
Currently, Arc of Descent are touring the New York area and look to book the North East for early next year. Also they are writing new songs, recording, and are also in the midst of fleshing out a distribution deal for merchandising and music. In the future, they look forward to corporate sponsorships, endorsements, and a major or large indie-label contract, but as with any art, the craft is ever-evolving. If you would like to contact Arc of Descent or request a press kit (They are currently looking for reviews), please email ArcOfDescentMusic@gmail.com or call Kimberly Ziglar, Artists’ Manager, at 516-491-0386.
They can also be located on MySpace.
What does Arc of Descent mean? "The Arc of Descent is condensing; the Arc of Ascent is the opposite, etherealizing. Does this mean that as we come down the Arc of Descent we do things and are almost compelled by the forces around us to do them which on the Ascending Arc we would call evil, wicked? In other words, is selfishness on the Downward Arc what Nature calls for, or is it not?" -G. de Purucker, Studies in Occult Philosophy
