Artist Information
Zigmat's singer Monica Rodriguez is a Caribbean born, Texan raised, New York City-dwelling artist who is known for making lithe, rocking dance music. In the summer of 2006 she invited drummer, Adam Sturtevant (The Porous Orchestra) and funky synth-wizard Alon Leventon to join forces with herself and bassist, Stephen Yonkin. They quickly began playing together and a short time later were joined by profound guitarist, Ryan Alfred (of The Human Problem). Since its creation, Zigmat has been producing a buzz in New York City’s East Village, quickly gathering a loyal following at venues such as Nublu and Pianos. The band delivers a high energy, Latin influenced, rocking performance that not only grooves, but also puts the crowd on their feet, moving to the Zigmat beat. An intense live video performance behind the band also allows fans to take in the shows as a melodic phantasmagoria. Currently the band has been spending any free time in between shows in the studio to record a full-length album that can be expected to surface this winter
