Born October 1998, after some prodding from lead singer/gtr from the buckners Luke McInnis. Mark McInnis (ex-Roofgoats)was introduced to Aaron J Ferri (formerly Buffalo Super 7)by Luke. Mark came in with 5 or 6 songs and played for AJ and the band was formed. After nearly settling on a "pop" drummer, 18 year old punk Tyler Montgomery got a last minute audtion after smashing his face on a lightpost in Brighton, MA. Dazed, he looked up and saw the "want ad." Typhoon Ferri was soon born. Early shows were played at Great Scots and Allston, MA where the band branched out and recorded their first CD, featuring crowd faves' "Infamous" and "Crystal Shawmut Shuttle." Soon, they were performing more shows throughout New England and New York, soon discovered by sports manager John Cirillo, who booked them for several charity events in New York City.
In 2001-2002, the band began working on critically accalimed "Detergencey." Mostly written at 34 Winship, in the laundry room, this CD received an award from musesmuse.com for best alternative album of 2005! The CD show cases the many eclecticisms of Typhoon Ferri; blues, folk, funk, Latin, reggae, jazz and rock. The shows continued including shows at the Sundance Film Festival 2005 in Park City, UT, as well as opening for Seeking Homer, Black Sheep, See Peoples, and Dr Hook and the Medicine Show.
In 2007 the band has continued toward completing a new CD which they hope to have released sometime in the spring. New songs can be heard on their website including; "Cash Back" and "Whitewater."
