Twizm has been a local rapper in Oakland for over 5 years. He’s an artist, music producer, and sound engineer. He writes his own music and in 2004 he put out the mix tape Bigger Business, which sold over a 1000 copies. In 2006 Twizm released his 2nd mix-tape album Jack of all Trades. Twizm is also in a group called Guerilla Savages with another Oakland artist Chaos the Kader, and they are planning on releasing their album at the end of 2006.
When Twizm began raping he was influenced by people like Lil wayne, Jay-z, Bg, Snoop dog, 2pac, and Nas. Twizm’s music basically speaks for it’s self. His music is different from other Oakland rappers that are doing Hyphy music, because his music has a message. Twizm gives people something they can bounce to and feel, while inspiring them to do the right thing. Twizm talks about stuff people can relate to by telling the stories of what he has been through, and what he’s been around and seen.
During the last year Twizm had been involved in the Bay Area Art in Action artist collective, and he has come together with other artists to stop the violence happening in Oakland. His music promotes turf unity, and he has been performing at summer music events as part of the Silence the Violence project. He also does hip hop shows and block parties throughout Oakland, and has performed at places like the Shattuck Down Low in Berkeley, The Attic in Santa Cruz, and The Cell Space and Studio Z in San Francisco. Twizm has done shows with Pep Luv of the Heirogplyphics crew, and worked with artists getting radio play like Uno of the Wolf Pack. Twizm has met with Ghost Face Killa of the Wu-Tang Clan, and has performed for the MTV host Sway. At his performances Twizm gets nothing but good complements from fellow artists and fans.
