Mike Kuykendall and David Ireland from East Palo Alto,Ca created Creekside Rock Band on the stroke of midnight 2000. They were formed in a small Trailer Park in East Palo Alto, which was the murder capital of the Nation in 1992.
On Jan 1st 2000 Mike and David on went to magic forest park in Palo Alto and took there 5 gallon water jug full of pennies and had just enough coins to get a 4 track recorder.
David says I would of never in my wildest dreams think that 6 years ago would lead Mike and I to selling our songs on 50 websites including Itunes,cdbaby,Itubes,cdbaby,napster,lulu,and Verizon and cingular ringtones.
Nowadays is actaually possible to make money without a major label. Its so much easier to sell songs!! Cdbaby.com has really made a great place to market our songs David Ireland says. They work with over 50 other download websites that have amazingly created a outlet for indie bands that are stuck in that marketing mode.
The music industry is a wide open area with the large production companies keeping control of the who gets heard, but the indies are finally breaking ground.
David Ireland grew up in the Willow Glen part of San Jose,Ca and Mike grew up in Kansas. Mike became a navy seal in the vietnam war and played battle of the bands on battle ships when they neded time to escape reality.
David grew up watching his brother Clifford play in his battle of the bands
at the young age of 13. David always wanted to write songs and sing, 36 years later it came true.
Dreams are out there wont come true unless you are persistent and know when the right people cross your path to help with the journey, dont let go of them and dont let possible bad influences that cross your path get in the way.
We have been blessed! We have alot more rock to write!
